WP Buffs alternative: small tasks, done in a chat
A free plugin adds a chat to your business site's WP dashboard. Type the small job in your own words. See it first, press the button, undo in one click.
- Nothing changes without your OK
- Undo in one click, or a warning first
- No account, no password to share
Needs WP 6.3 to 7.1, PHP 8.0 or newer, and an administrator login. One site per install.
The download is a plugin. Turning it on connects your site to cmshands.com and adds 3 small rescue files. Deleting the plugin removes them and everything it stored. What we send

Under the Contact heading, add “We reply within one working day.”

Watch it do this on a real site
You ask
You type the job in the chat, the way you'd write it to a person. The chat sits in your WP dashboard, so there's no ticket and no login to send.
Under the Contact heading, add “We reply within one working day.”
You see it first
It reads your pages, a post, your theme and your footer. Then a card shows the Contact page with the new line at the top. Nothing has changed yet.
Ready for you to review — it sits directly under the "Contact" heading, in the same style as the lines below it.
- 1 secondLooking for what you meant
- 5 secondsReading one of your pages
- 8 secondsReading one of your pages
- Reading one of your posts
- 17 secondsLooking at your theme’s colours and sizes
- Looking at your themes
- 19 secondsReading your footer
- 22 secondsPreparing the change for your OK
- Previewing your page
You press the button
Only now does it change the page. It updates it, reads it back to check, and the card turns green with an Undo link.
- 49 secondsUpdating one of your pages
- Checking the change
It's on your site
The test site's Contact page right after. The new line sits under the heading, in the same style as the text below it.
Done. I checked afterwards, and it now says "We reply within one working day.".
Undo, if you want
One press of Undo took the line out again. It checked the page and showed what it put back.
Undone. I checked afterwards, and it's back the way it was.

A real run on our test site, Quillmoor Pottery (WP 7.1.3, Twenty Twenty-Four), Oct 10, 2026. From asking to done, it took 49 seconds.
That's the whole job. The plugin is free: 3 changes to try it, no account. Nothing changes until you press the button.
Needs WP 6.3 to 7.1, PHP 8.0 or newer, and an administrator login. One site per install.

Who should keep WP Buffs
Keep WP Buffs if you'd rather a team looked after your site for you. Every plan includes cloud backups 4 times a day, weekly updates done by their team, and their “Emergency Support” by email. From Protect, $179 a month, their team also makes edits for you, including pictures, plugin settings and new landing pages (their plans page, read Oct 11, 2026). CMSHands is a plugin, not a team: you ask for each change and press the button yourself.

Can you use both?
Yes. Keep WP Buffs for backups and the bigger jobs, and ask the chat for the small ones you want done now. We haven't tested the two side by side on our test site yet, so let only one of them update your plugins, or you won't know which one changed what.
Needs WP 6.3 to 7.1, PHP 8.0 or newer, and an administrator login. One site per install.

Questions
Is CMSHands part of WP Buffs?
No. CMSHands is a separate product from a separate company, and it isn't affiliated with WP Buffs. If you're a WP Buffs customer looking for your login or a support ticket, go to wpbuffs.com.
What does WP Buffs cost?
Their plans page lists 4 plans: Maintain at $89, Protect at $179, Perform at $239 and Custom at $359 a month. Each plan covers one site. Edits to your site start with Protect, and online stores need Perform or Custom. We read these prices on Oct 11, 2026, so check their page for today's.
Is there a free WP Buffs alternative?
For small changes, yes. CMSHands is a free plugin for business sites: 3 changes with no account, then 10 a month once you add your email. Questions are free, up to 30 a day. A change is one card you approve. It isn't a care plan, so it doesn't make backups.
Do I have to give anyone my login?
No. The plugin works inside your WP dashboard, the screens you log in to at yoursite.com/wp-admin, with your own login. Nobody at CMSHands needs your password. WP Buffs asks for your WP dashboard and hosting logins when a plan starts, so their team can work on your site.
What small jobs can it do?
Change the words on your pages and posts, and your site title and tagline. Install or update plugins from the WP plugin directory, the free plugins at wordpress.org. On a block theme (your dashboard has Appearance › Editor), also your header, footer and styling. It can't upload pictures or edit page-builder pages.
What if my site breaks?
With CMSHands on your site, it's checked once a day on the free plan, and at once if it crashes. We prepare the fix, and a person at CMSHands approves it before it runs. It only works on sites that had CMSHands before they broke, so install it while yours works. Tried on our test sites; hosts differ.
