Edit the words on a WP page

A free plugin adds a chat to your WP dashboard. Type the change, like “since 2019” to “since 2018”. See it first, press the button, undo in one click.

Pages made in the WP editor, not with a page builder. What's a page builder?

  • Nothing changes without your OK
  • Undo in one click, or a warning first
  • No account, no password to share

Needs WP 6.3 to 7.1, PHP 8.0 or newer, and an administrator login. One site per install.

The download is a plugin. Turning it on connects your site to cmshands.com and adds 3 small rescue files. Deleting the plugin removes them and everything it stored. What we send

You ask

You type the change in the chat, in your own words. The chat sits in your WP dashboard, next to your pages.

On the About page, change “since 2019” to “since 2018”.

You see it first

It finds the About page, reads it, and about 29 seconds later shows a card, a box in the chat that shows exactly what would change. It opens on After: your page with the new words. Nothing has changed yet.

Ready for you to review — it's on the About page, and the wording elsewhere on the page is untouched.

  2. 4 secondsReading one of your pages
  3. 6 secondsPreparing the change for your OK

Or see the exact words

Press Code to see the change itself: the old sentence in red, the new one in green. Now shows the page as it is today. The green button makes the change. Not now leaves the page alone.

You press the button

Only now does it change your page. It updates the About page, reads it back to check, and the card turns green with an Undo link.

  2. 38 secondsChecking the change

It's on the site

The About page on the test site right after, seen by a visitor: the first line now ends in 2018. Nothing else on the page moved.

Done. I checked afterwards, and it now says "Quillmoor Pottery is a two-person studio making mugs, bowls and plates by hand since 2018.".

Undo, if you want

One press of Undo put the old sentence back. It checked again and showed exactly what it put back.

Undone. I checked afterwards, and it's back the way it was.

  2. 46 secondsChecking the change

A real run on our test site, Quillmoor Pottery (WP 7.1.3, Twenty Twenty-Four), Oct 11, 2026. From asking to done, it took 38 seconds.

That's the whole job. The plugin is free: 3 changes to try it, no account. Nothing changes until you press the button.

How to edit a page in WordPress yourself

Checked on WP 7.1, Oct 11, 2026

  1. 1. Open your WP dashboard, the screens you log in to at yoursite.com/wp-admin, and go to Pages › All Pages.

The WP dashboard menu with Pages open and All Pages outlined, beside the list of pages
  2. 2. Hover over the page's name and click Edit under it. On our test site, that's the About page.

The About row in the pages list, with the Edit link under its name outlined
  3. 3. The page opens in the editor. Click the words you want to change. A box appears around them, with a small toolbar above.

The About page's first paragraph clicked in the editor: outlined in blue, with the small toolbar above it
  4. 4. Type the new words, as you would in any text box. For bold or a link, select the words and use that toolbar.

The same paragraph after typing: it now ends in since 2018
  5. 5. Press Save at the top right. WP puts the new words on your site and keeps the old version as a revision.

The top right of the editor with the Save button outlined
  6. 6. Open the page on your site to check it. Next time, the Edit Page link in the black bar at the top opens it directly.

The About page on the site, logged in: the black bar at the top with Edit Page outlined

If your site has the Classic Editor plugin, the page opens as one big text box instead of blocks. Change the words there and press Update on the right.

Your header, footer and menu show on every page, so they aren't part of any one page. To change the footer, see how to edit your footer. Blog posts edit the same way as pages, starting from Posts › All Posts.

What it won't do here

Page-builder pages

A page builder is a plugin such as Elementor or Divi that lays out pages its own way. CMSHands can't edit those pages. Use the builder's own editor.

Words that appear twice on a page

Each change has to match one spot exactly. If your words show up twice, say which one, for example by quoting the sentence around it.

Pictures

It changes the words on a page. It can't upload a picture or swap one yet.

Search titles from an SEO plugin

The title and description an SEO plugin shows in search results are kept by that plugin, not in the page's words. CMSHands can't change those.

Menus

Your menu isn't part of the page. We haven't tested menu changes yet, so this page doesn't promise them.

Why it won't wreck your site

Nothing changes until you press the button.

Every change comes as a card that names it. Nothing happens until you press the button or Not now.

You see it first.

Old words in red, new words in green. For layout, before-and-after pictures on a computer and a phone.

One click undoes it.

When something can't be undone, like deleting a page or a plugin, the card says so before you press.

Questions

Where do I edit a page in the WordPress dashboard?

In Pages › All Pages. Hover over the page's name and click Edit under it. If you're logged in and looking at the page on your site, the black bar at the top has an Edit Page link too. Blog posts work the same way, from Posts › All Posts.

How do I edit a page's HTML in WordPress?

Click the block you want, press the three dots in its toolbar, and choose Edit as HTML. To see the whole page as code, open the three dots at the top right of the editor and choose Code editor. Visual editor, in the same menu, takes you back. If your code no longer fits the block, WP warns you in the editor.

Can I undo a change to a page?

Yes. WP keeps a copy every time you save, called a revision. In the editor, open Page in the right-hand panel, then Revisions, to compare versions and bring one back. With CMSHands, press Undo on the green card. In our test run, a “What was put back” card came next: the new 2018 sentence in red, the old 2019 one back in green.

How do I edit a landing page in WordPress?

Find it in Pages › All Pages, like any other page. If it has an Edit with Elementor link or the name of another page builder, edit it in that builder. CMSHands can't change page-builder pages. If the page opens in the WP editor, the steps above work, and so does the chat.

How do I edit testimonials in WordPress?

It depends on where they live. If they're typed on a page, open that page from Pages › All Pages and change them like any other words. If a testimonials plugin holds them, look for that plugin's own menu in your dashboard. CMSHands can change testimonials that are words on a page made in the WP editor.

Is it free?

To start, yes: 3 changes with no account, then 10 a month once you add your email. Questions are free, up to 30 a day, or 100 with your email.
