Best WP contact form plugins, and how to add one
Below are 2 or 3 free plugins for each of 5 form jobs, read from wordpress.org on Oct 14, 2026. Or ask CMSHands, our free plugin: a chat in your WP dashboard (yoursite.com/wp-admin) that picks one and installs it.
It installs plugins from the WP plugin directory only. Not premium plugins.

Needs WP 6.3 to 7.1, PHP 8.0 or newer, and an administrator login. One site per install.

Which contact form plugin should I use? Install the one you'd pick.
You already have one — Contact Form 7 is installed and switched on. Installing a second form plugin would just give you two that don't know about each other, so I haven't installed anything.
The only thing worth doing on it is the update that's waiting: 6.1.7 → 6.2.1, which we saw in your audit. Say the word and I'll propose that.

It listed the plugins on our test site, found Contact Form 7 already on, and installed nothing. No card came up, so there was nothing to approve or undo. The audit it mentions was an earlier question in the same chat.

Questions change nothing, so there's no button: this is the answer it gave. Step times count from the moment the request was sent.
- It picks one form plugin from the WP plugin directory that fits your WP and PHP versions.
- It installs it once you press the button on its card, a box in the chat that shows exactly what would change.
- Already have a form plugin? It says so. Asked on a site with Contact Form 7 on, it installed nothing.
More it does here (2)
- Undo switches the plugin off and deletes it. Forms or settings it made can stay.
- On a block theme (your dashboard has Appearance › Editor), it can style a Contact Form 7 form to match your site.
Why it won't wreck your site
- Nothing changes until you press the button. Every change comes as a card that names it. Nothing happens until you press the button or Not now.
- Asking changes nothing. A question only reads your site. It looks things up and tells you. No card, no button.
- One click undoes it. When something can't be undone, like deleting a page or a plugin, the card says so before you press.
What it won't do here
- Premium form pluginsIt installs plugins from the WP plugin directory only. A premium plugin comes as a zip file that you upload yourself.
- Building the form for youIt installs the form plugin and switches it on. We haven't tested it building a form or changing the plugin's settings yet.
- Undo removes the plugin, not what it madeUndo switches the plugin off and deletes it. Forms or settings the plugin made while it was on can stay.
- Styling the form on an older themeThat's a theme with Appearance › Customize instead of Editor. It writes the CSS, the rules that set how your site looks, for you to paste.

Questions
What is the best WordPress contact form plugin?
For a simple form, Contact Form 7 is the most used: 10+ million active installs on wordpress.org on Oct 14, 2026. If you'd rather drag fields into place, WPForms and Fluent Forms were both rated 4.8 out of 5. Pick one and stick with it. Two form plugins don't know about each other, so you'd have 2 sets of forms to look after.
What is the best free contact form plugin for WordPress?
Every plugin in the tables above is free to install from the WP plugin directory. Some makers also sell a paid version. The plugin's page on wordpress.org says what the free one includes. For a name, email and message form, the free version of any plugin in the first 2 tables will do.
Why don't I get emails from my contact form?
Most often, mail sent by your host's server is blocked or lands in spam. Check your spam folder first. Then install an SMTP plugin from the table above: it sends your site's mail through a mail service, like Gmail or your email provider. With Contact Form 7, Flamingo keeps a copy of each message in your dashboard, so none are lost meanwhile.
Can CMSHands install a contact form plugin for me?
Yes, if it's in the WP plugin directory. Ask the chat which form plugin to use. It checks a plugin's WP and PHP needs against your site, then installs it once you press the button. Already have one? It says so. On our test site, a WP site we run to try every task before we write about it, it found Contact Form 7 and installed nothing.
Will it build the form for me?
We haven't tested that yet. It installs the form plugin and switches it on. You then make the form in the plugin's own menu and add it to your Contact page. On a block theme, it can style a Contact Form 7 form to match your site. Undo puts it back exactly as it was.
Is it free?
To start, yes: 3 changes with no account, then 10 a month once you add your email. Installing one plugin is one change. Questions are free, up to 30 a day (100 with your email), so asking which plugin fits your site costs nothing.
