What it does here
- Attach your product sheet, CSV or Excel, and ask for your store's import columns. You get a CSV file back.
- It fixes what trips the importer, like semicolons between columns or prices written as 88,00.
- On the paid plan, not open yet, it imports your sheet as it is, no template needed. New products come in as drafts.
More it does here (2)
- One Undo takes a whole import back out. New products go to the trash, where they stay for 30 days.
- Nothing on your site changes while it works on your file. The file it sends back is kept for 7 days.
How to make a WooCommerce CSV template yourself
Checked on WP 7.1, Oct 14, 2026
1. In your dashboard, go to Products › All Products and press Export at the top, next to Import.
2. Under Which product types should be exported?, pick Simple product. Leave the rest as it is, so you get every column.
3. Press Generate CSV. Your browser downloads a file with every simple product in your store.
4. Open the file in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets. The first row holds the column names: that row is your template.
5. Delete every row under the first one, and the ID column. A new product needs no ID.
6. Add one product per row. Put -1 under Published to bring it in as a draft, or 1 to show it in your shop.
7. Save it as CSV. Then bring it in at Products › All Products › Import.
For new simple products, 8 columns cover the basics: Type (simple), SKU, Name, Published, Regular price, Stock, Categories and Description. Keep the names as the export writes them, and the importer matches each column by itself. Want a filled-in file to practice with? Get our sample product CSV. Why it won't wreck your site
- Nothing changes until you press the button. Every change comes as a card that names it. Nothing happens until you press the button or Not now.
- One click undoes it. When something can't be undone, like deleting a page or a plugin, the card says so before you press.
What it won't do here
- Imports wait for the paid planThe paid plan isn't open yet. Until it is, bring the file it sends back in at Products › All Products › Import.
- Its imports take simple products, no pictures yetNo variations, like one mug in 3 glazes, and no product images. The store's own importer handles both.
- It can't export your productsIt only reads the files you send it. Use Export, as in the steps above, to get your products out.
- No supplier links or shared sheet linksIt can't open a web address or a Google Sheets link. Download the sheet as CSV or Excel, then attach the file.
Questions
Where do I get a WooCommerce CSV template?
Export one from your own store. Go to Products › All Products, press Export, then Generate CSV. The first row of that file holds every column name the importer knows. Want a filled-in example to practice with? Our sample product CSV has 50 made-up products in 13 columns.
What columns does a WooCommerce product CSV template need?
For new simple products, 8 columns cover the basics: Type, SKU, Name, Published, Regular price, Stock, Categories and Description. Write the names exactly as the export does, and the importer matches each column by itself. Leave out ID for new products. WooCommerce is a trademark of Automattic Inc.
Why do my prices come in 100 times too high?
Your sheet probably writes prices with a comma, like 88,00. Excel saves files that way in countries that use a decimal comma. On our test store, a WP shop we run to try every task, the importer would read 88,00 as 8800. Change those commas to dots first. Columns split by semicolons? Press Show advanced options on the import screen and set CSV Delimiter to ;.
How do I save an Excel sheet as a CSV?
In Excel, choose File › Save As and pick CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited). In Google Sheets, choose File › Download › Comma Separated Values (.csv). In Numbers, choose File › Export To › CSV. Keep the column names in the first row, and save one sheet per file.
Can CMSHands turn my supplier's sheet into the right CSV?
Yes, with the free plugin. Attach the sheet in the chat and ask for your store's import columns. It sends back a CSV file and changes nothing on your site. Having it import the file for you is part of the paid plan, which isn't open yet. Until then, bring the file in at Products › All Products › Import.
