Steps of this run

You ask

You type the change the way you'd say it to a person. The chat has its own page in your WP dashboard, under CMSHands in the menu.

On the home page, change “Free delivery over $50” to “Free delivery over $40”.

The waiting card: its After view shows the home page saying Free delivery over $40, and the Update the page button

You see it first

It found the words on the home page and came back with a card, a box in the chat that shows exactly what would change. Its After view is your page with the new price. Your site hasn't changed yet.

Ready for you to review — both the heading and the line underneath it now say $40.
  1. 2 secondsLooking for what you meant
  2. 4 secondsReading one of your pages
  3. 6 secondsPreparing the change for your OK
  4. 7 secondsPreviewing your page

Both places, old and new

The price was in two places: the heading and the sentence under it. The Code tab shows both lines, old in red and new in green. If you meant only one, press Not now and say so.

You press the button

Only now does it change the page. It saves the new words, then reads the page back to check them. Its check sentence quotes both changed lines one after the other, so the price shows twice. Then the card turns green with an Undo link.

  2. 40 secondsChecking the change

It's on the site

The test site's home page right after, as a visitor sees it: the heading and the line under it both say $40. Under this is the card's check sentence, with the two changed lines one after the other.

Done. I checked afterwards, and it now says "Free delivery over $40 Free delivery over $40 anywhere in the US. Each order is wrapped in recycled paper.".

Undo, if you want

One press of Undo put $50 back in both places. It checked the page again and showed what it put back.

Undone. I checked afterwards, and it's back the way it was.

How to edit your website in WordPress yourself

Checked on WP 7.1, Oct 11, 2026

  1. 1. Log in at your site's address plus /wp-admin and open the page from Pages. Editing one page shows each screen.

Pages in the WP dashboard, with the Home page, marked Front Page, outlined in the list
  2. 2. Click the words you want to change and type the new ones. Change every place they appear, like both prices here.

The home page open in the editor: the delivery heading and the line under it both retyped to say $40
  3. 3. Press Save at the top right. On a page that's already live, visitors see the change as soon as it saves.

  4. 4. Changed your mind? On the editor's Page tab, click the number next to Revisions to compare and bring back an earlier version.

  7. 7. For colors and fonts, choose Styles, then Colors or Typography. What you set there applies to every page.

  8. 8. To keep a style change, press Review 1 change… at the bottom left. The number is how many changes are waiting.

  9. 9. In the Review changes box that opens, press Save. Until you do, visitors still see the old style.

On an older (classic) theme, the kind with Appearance › Customize instead of Editor, pages edit the same way. The header and footer live in Appearance › Customize or the theme's own settings, which CMSHands can't change yet.

Pages hold your words, and your theme sets the look. So most edits start in Pages, and changes to the look of the whole site in Appearance. After you save, check the page on a phone too.

What it won't do here

Pages made with a page builder

Pages laid out with a page builder, a plugin such as Elementor or Divi that lays out pages its own way, aren't supported.

Header and footer on older (classic) themes

Header and footer changes need a block theme. On an older theme they live in the theme's files or settings, which it can't change yet.

Pictures and logos

It changes words and blocks. It can't upload a new picture or logo to your site.

Menus and SEO titles

We haven't tested menu changes yet. It doesn't change the titles and descriptions an SEO plugin writes for search results.

Why it won't wreck your site

Nothing changes until you press the button.

Every change comes as a card that names it. Nothing happens until you press the button or Not now.

You see it first.

Old words in red, new words in green. For layout, before-and-after pictures on a computer and a phone.

One click undoes it.

When something can't be undone, like deleting a page or a plugin, the card says so before you press.

Questions

How do I edit my WordPress website?

Log in at your site's address with /wp-admin on the end. For the words on a page, open Pages, click the page, type, and press Save. For the header, footer, colors and fonts, use Appearance › Editor on a block theme, or Appearance › Customize on an older one. The steps above show each screen.

Can I edit my site without knowing code?

Yes. Pages and posts open in WP's editor, which works much like a document: click the words and type. On a block theme the header, footer and colors change in Appearance › Editor, with no code either. Code only comes in for layouts or features your theme doesn't offer.

Is editing in WordPress the same on every theme?

For pages and posts, yes. They open in the same WP editor whatever your theme, unless a page builder made them. The header, footer and styles differ: a block theme has Appearance › Editor, an older theme has Appearance › Customize or its own settings page. Check which kind you have.

Will visitors see my edits while I'm still working?

Not until you press Save. On a page that's already live, Save shows the change to visitors at once, so read it over first. With CMSHands, the card shows your page with the change before anything is saved, and Undo on the card puts the old words back.

What can CMSHands change on my site?

The words on your pages and posts, your site title and tagline, and new pages or posts it writes for you. On a block theme or a page made in the WP editor, it can also add, move or remove blocks. Pages made with a page builder are left alone. Each change comes as a card you approve first.

Is it free?

To start, yes: 3 changes with no account, then 10 a month once you add your email. Questions are free, up to 30 a day (100 with your email).
