Duplicate a WP blog post by asking
A free plugin adds a chat to your WP dashboard. Ask it to copy a post as a draft. Press the button to add it. Undo removes it.
Tested on a blog post. The chat names the post it copies, not its words. What it won't do
Needs WP 6.3 to 7.1 and PHP 8.0 or newer. What it installs
Needs WP 6.3 to 7.1, PHP 8.0 or newer, and an administrator login. One site per install.
The download is a plugin. Turning it on connects your site to cmshands.com and adds 3 small rescue files. Deleting the plugin removes them and everything it stored. What we send

- Nothing changes without your OK
- Undo in one click, or a warning first
- No account, no password to share
What it does here
- It finds the post you mean, such as your latest one, and names it before it copies anything.
- It adds the copy as a new post when you press Add the post. Ask for a draft to keep it off your site.
- Undo removes the copy, then checks that your posts are back the way they were.
More it does here (1)
- Your original post stays as it was. The card adds a new post; it doesn't change the old one.
How to duplicate a blog post in WordPress yourself
Checked on WP 7.1, Oct 14, 2026
1. In your dashboard, go to Posts › All Posts and click the title of the post you want to copy.
2. At the top right, click Options (the three dots), then Copy all blocks. WP shows “All content copied.”
3. Go to Posts › Add Post. A new, empty post opens.
4. Click the line that says “Type / to choose a block” and paste: Ctrl+V, or Cmd+V on a Mac.
5. Click Add title and type a title for the copy. The old title doesn't come across.
6. In the Settings panel on the right, open Categories and tick the same ones as the old post.
7. Press Save draft at the top. When the copy is ready, press Publish.
Copy all blocks copies the body of the post only. The title, category, tags and featured image stay behind, so set them again before you publish. In our test run, CMSHands named the post it was copying and gave the copy the old title plus “(copy)”.
Why it won't wreck your site
- Nothing changes until you press the button. Every change comes as a card that names it. Nothing happens until you press the button or Not now.
- One click undoes it. When something can't be undone, like deleting a page or a plugin, the card says so before you press.
What it won't do here
- Reading the copy before you pressThe card (the box in the chat you OK) reads “Add a post”. It doesn't show the words. The chat names the post it copies and the new title.
- Category, tags and featured imageWe haven't tested whether these carry over to the copy yet. Check them in the draft's settings before you publish.
- Copying a page instead of a postWe tested it on a blog post. Pages get the same kind of card, but we haven't tested copying one yet.
- Page-builder pages and postsIf Elementor, Divi or another page builder made it, it can't copy that layout. A page builder is a plugin that lays out pages its own way.
Questions
How do I duplicate a blog post in WordPress?
Open the post, click Options at the top right, then Copy all blocks. Go to Posts › Add Post, paste into the empty post, add a title and save it as a draft. The steps above show each click.
How do I create a duplicate page in WordPress?
The same way as a post: open the page, click Options, then Copy all blocks, and paste into a new page under Pages. With CMSHands, we tested copying a blog post. We haven't tested copying a page yet.
Does a copied post keep its category and featured image?
Not with Copy all blocks: it copies the body of the post, not its title, category, tags or featured image. Set those again in the Settings panel. With CMSHands, we haven't tested that yet, so check the draft's settings before you publish.
Can I undo a copied post?
Yes. Press Undo on the card and it removes the copy. In our test run it said: “Undone. I checked afterwards, and it's back the way it was.” Your original post isn't changed either way.
Is it free?
To start, yes: 3 changes with no account, then 10 a month once you add your email. Questions are free, up to 30 a day.
