Steps of this run
The CMSHands chat box in the WP dashboard, with the request typed in: make a Blog page that lists our latest posts

You ask

You type what you want in the chat, in your own words. The chat sits in your WP dashboard. Before this run, our test site had no Blog page: its /blog/ address showed Page Not Found.

Make a Blog page that lists our latest posts, using the posts list block.

It checks, then asks you

It checks for a Blog page first, reads your pages and your theme, and about 18 seconds later shows a card: Add a page. Nothing has changed yet. This card has no picture of the page. The note under it says what it found.

There was no Blog page before, and it isn't in your menu yet — say the word if you want it linked there.

You press the button

Only now does it change your site. It adds the page, reads it back to check, and the card turns green with an Undo link.

It's on the site

The /blog/ address right after, seen by a visitor. It's a new page called Blog with WP's Latest Posts block, set to list up to 10 of the newest posts with their dates. Our test site has 3 posts, so it lists 3.

Done. I checked afterwards, and the change is in place.

Undo, if you want

One press of Undo moved the Blog page to the trash. It checked again, and /blog/ showed Page Not Found, as before.

Undone. I checked afterwards, and it's back the way it was.

That's the whole job. The plugin is free: 3 changes to try it, no account. Nothing changes until you press the button.

How to create a blog page in WordPress yourself

Checked on WP 7.1, Oct 11, 2026

  1. 1. In your dashboard (yoursite.com/wp-admin), go to Pages › Add Page. If a Choose a pattern window opens, close it to start blank.

The WP dashboard menu with Pages open and Add Page outlined, next to the Add Page button
  2. 2. Click the title area at the top and type Blog. WP makes the page's address from its title, so it will be yoursite.com/blog/.

A new page in the editor with Blog typed as its title, the title box outlined
  3. 3. Click the + at the top left, search for latest posts and click Latest Posts. Typing /latest posts in the page works too.

The block panel open at the top left, latest posts typed in its search box and the Latest Posts block outlined
  4. 4. Your newest posts appear as a list of links. To show their dates, switch on Display post date in the Block panel on the right.

The Block panel for Latest Posts, with Display post date switched on and outlined
  5. 5. Press Publish at the top right, then Publish again in the panel that opens. Your Blog page is now live at yoursite.com/blog/.

The panel that asks Are you ready to publish?, with its second Publish button outlined
  6. 6. To add Blog to your menu, open Appearance › Editor › Navigation. Press the + under your menu's links, type Blog and click it.

The menu's links in Appearance › Editor › Navigation, with + pressed, Blog typed and the Blog page outlined
  7. 7. Blog joins your menu's list. Press Review 1 change… at the bottom left.

The bottom of the Navigation sidebar after adding Blog, with the Review 1 change… button outlined
  8. 8. Press Save in the Review changes box that opens.

The Review changes box: 1 site change to Main menu, with its Save button outlined

On an older (classic) theme, one with Appearance › Customize instead of Editor, the menu lives in Appearance › Menus. With the Classic Editor plugin there's no Latest Posts block, so use Settings › Reading: see how to set a posts page.

A Latest Posts block is a list you place on a page, next to your own words. It has no links to older posts. The other way is to make Blog your Posts page in Settings › Reading, and your theme lays it out. On Twenty Twenty-Four that's a whole home-page design with your posts near the bottom, until you change Blog Home in Appearance › Editor › Templates.

What it won't do here

No picture of the new page first

In our run the card said Add a page, without showing the page. Look at it after you press the button, and press Undo if it's wrong.

Adding it to your menu

In our run it left the menu alone and offered to add the link. We haven't tested menu changes yet, so add it yourself, as in steps 6 to 8.

The posts page in Settings › Reading

It made a page with a Latest Posts block. It didn't make Blog your posts page. We haven't tested that setting yet.

Why it won't wreck your site

Nothing changes until you press the button.

Every change comes as a card that names it. Nothing happens until you press the button or Not now.

One click undoes it.

When something can't be undone, like deleting a page or a plugin, the card says so before you press.

Questions

How do I make a separate blog page in WordPress?

Two ways. Put a Latest Posts block on a page called Blog, as in the steps above. Or add an empty page called Blog, go to Settings › Reading, choose A static page, pick your home page, set Posts page to Blog and press Save Changes. Your theme then lays that page out. Look at it after: Twenty Twenty-Four, for one, puts a whole home-page design there.

How do I edit the blog page in WordPress?

It depends how it was made. A page with a Latest Posts block edits like any page: Pages › All Pages, then Edit under Blog. Click the list to change Number of items or the dates. If Blog is your Posts page in Settings › Reading, the layout comes from your theme. On a block theme that's Appearance › Editor › Templates, usually Blog Home.

Will my new blog page show up in the menu?

Only if your menu lists every page on its own. Our test site's menu is a fixed list, so Blog didn't appear. The assistant said: “There was no Blog page before, and it isn't in your menu yet — say the word if you want it linked there.” We haven't tested menu changes yet, so add it yourself in Appearance › Editor › Navigation, as in steps 6 to 8. On an older theme, use Appearance › Menus.

What's the difference between a posts page and a Latest Posts block?

The posts page is the one you pick in Settings › Reading. WP shows it with your theme's blog template and leaves out anything typed on the page itself. A Latest Posts block is a list you place on any page, next to your own words. You choose how many posts it shows and whether dates appear.

Is it free?

To start, yes: 3 changes with no account, then 10 a month once you add your email. Questions are free, up to 30 a day.
